چکیده
Foreign body ingestion (FBI) is one of the common causes emergency admissions in infancy and childhood. Although large majority children who present with FBI have no psychiatric diagnosis, studies demonstrate that attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) related problems might be a risk factor for FBI. This study aimed to compare demographic variables levels sluggish cognitive tempo symptoms (ADHD-SCT) ingested foreign bodies healthy children. Also, we address relationship between ADHD-SCT age The group comprised 44 (age 2-8, median age: 5, 68.2% boys) admitted emergency, pediatric surgery, gastroenterology department after FBI, control 30 3-8, 6, 56.7% boys). We administered sociodemographic information form, SNAP-IV ADHD rating scale, Barkley’s child SCT ratings scale both groups parents. Our results demonstrated maternal education level was significantly lower group, although other characteristics samples were similar (p=0.023). In addition, ADHD-hyperactivity/impulsivity scores higher (p=0.01). Still, there significant differences ADHD-inattention, SCT-daydreaming, SCT-sluggishness (for all, p>0.05). found positive-moderate relationships SCT-daydreaming sluggishness (r=0.314, r=0.348, respectively). means are an older age. conclusion, first time, evaluated young against ADHD-hyperactivity, but not ADHD-inattention symptoms, increase at could additional Despite high low rate psychiatry evaluation should considered when evaluating child.
